Default Skill point returns

Random idea popped into my head the other day. I'm not entirely sold on it, but I figured I'd bring it up here anyway. Keep in mind that it's presented without any real polish or anything.

We've all experienced shortage of skill points before, right? Now, granted, there are 10-20k xp repeatable quests we can take to re-gain skill points after we exhaust ours, but even if you did Sorrow's Furnace quests nightly, that would require a chunk of a few hours each night, a few times a week, just to get 7 skill points back.

I know I don't have that kind of time, and with Factions' release approaching, at least two of my characters won't have enough skill points to do much of anything, provided Factions doesn't give us a faster way to acquire more skill points. My only character with over 10 skill points left is my Warrior, who I've been using to farm lately.

My suggestion is this: for every 5 Elite skills we cap, we gain back 1 skill point. It'd work retroactively, too.

Since there was a retroactive change when they altered the experience requirements for post-20 skill point acquisition, I think making this retroactive would be a good idea. We're already spending 1 skill point and 1 plat on SoCs, so I think getting a return of 1 skill point on a 5 skill point/5 plat investment would be very helpful.

Thoughts?

Oh I like this idea, anything to lessen my burden on acquiring new skill points is good for me.

I seem to be the opposite, I always have an overflow of skill points and I know many others this way also. This issue is equally balanced so no one side will suit everyone, best keep it this way.

It all depends on your class how fast you can aquire skill points. Some classes cannot solo anything. While some can solo everywhere.

My monk has 50 skill points stored. My ranger on the other hand I had to grind for 2 days to get 5.

I really think it should be lowed to 10k exp per skill point. That would make the repeatable quest worth doing. I don't understand the barrier they put on skill points. Making them 1k is enough to cringe. I had unlocked 3 proffessions on the same character and was at 600g per skill before the change. Now you buy about 10-15 skills and you hit the 1k cap. You simply reach the 1k way too fast. Your priced used to raise by about 2-4 gold per skill you bought. Now it raises by 50g.

The restrictions put on new players will take them months to get enough money to unlock the skills they need. There are quest and the such but they are not always time effective. Most times its much shorter to aquire the gold to buy the skill then do the quest for it.

I think the whole system needs to restructured to make skill easier to get not harder. I don't understand why anet took that direction but it was not a good choice.

Yay! Someone who agrees with my point of view there...

But, i always have an overflow of points, and yes the new system is harder on new players. So, that is a /signed, even though it won't benefit me.

Absolutely, anything to help my lowly hex loving casters out with their skill points. My poor PvE mesmer can't solo anything, in fact none of the characters I use can solo much of anything at a decent rate. I've had one, MAYBE two skill points on them over the past month or so, and it's annoying whenever I come up with a new build to have to go find a group for some high level area just to level up once, to unlock ONE skill that I need. Forgive me for not being an uber 1337 I can do anything by myself player, but I don't have the time to spend all day in-game solo farming to get skill points.

Yeah, I think this is a good idea.
